When did you last go for a walk in the woods? What could you see, smell, hear?
There are so many benefits to losing yourself in the forest, and New Woodlands are dedicated to providing woodlands that everyone can enjoy and learn from.
Visits to local woodlands are excellent for both mental and physical wellbeing. According to Forestry England, almost everyone would benefit from spending more time among trees, and studies suggest simply being able to see trees can result in faster recovery from medical operations, reduced fear and stressful thoughts, and less reliance on pain medication.
As well as also increasing physical activity, reducing obesity and relieving high blood pressure, going for regular walks in nature has been proven to reduce stress and restore psychological wellbeing. Woodland walks strengthen the immune system, and the tranquility of forests provides welcome relief from noise and air pollution.
That's why all our woodlands will be publicly accessible, where possible linking up with existing footpaths.
Exercise in woodlands has been shown to improve mental and physical health
The Tree Planters' trustees have agreed to change the charity's name to New Woodlands.
We believe this name more clearly communicates our overall goal than The Tree Planters does, as planting trees is only one small part of creating new permanently protected woodlands.
